O Gigante Egoísta & O Príncipe Feliz

This book brings together two timeless stories by Oscar Wilde—O Gigante Egoísta and O Príncipe Feliz—in a beautifully adapted edition for younger readers. Both tales are simple yet profound, exploring themes of kindness, empathy, and the transformative power of love and generosity.

I was invited to illustrate this edition, which is recommended by the Portuguese National Reading Plan and widely read across primary and secondary schools. It was an honour to help bring these stories to life for a new generation. The challenge was to create visuals that felt gentle and poetic, yet emotionally rich—something that could speak to children while still resonating with the deeper meaning of the texts.

From the lonely winter in the Giant’s garden to the quiet sorrow of the Prince’s golden statue, each illustration was designed to support the storytelling with warmth, clarity and feeling. The palette is soft and expressive, and the compositions leave room for the reader’s imagination to breathe.

These stories remind us that real happiness comes through sharing and compassion. It was a joy to help tell them through image.
